Audiel “Audie” Higareda, 77, entered his eternal rest on
Friday, September 2, 2022 surrounded by his family at M.D.
Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was born November
14, 1944, to Jose Higareda and Angelina Perez in Weslaco,
Texas.
Audie is survived by his wife of 40 years, “his world”,
Linda Higareda and his children: Trenton S. Higareda, Martin R.
Green, Marco I. Higareda, Derrick H. Higareda, and Deidre J.
Higareda, as well as his four grandchildren: Pierson, Madelyn,
Olivia, and Liam Higareda. He is also survived by his brothers
and sisters: Simon Higareda, John Higareda, Jose Higareda,
Maria “Maggie” Vidal, Juanita Higareda, and countless other
family members.
Sergeant Higareda retired from the US Marine Corps after
being seriously wounded during combat in Vietnam. He was a
recipient of two Purple Heart Medals and the Bronze Star with
combat V.
Audie’s favorite pastime was fishing with his sons at the
jetties at South Padre Island. He was an avid coin collector, he
made fine jewelry, and he was always searching for his next
great project.
His presence will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
